About ES Xplore
ES Xplore’s electroseismic technology directly detects producible hydrocarbons at seismic resolution. No other technology does this. Conversion between electromagnetic and seismic energies is the key mechanism underlying ES Xplore’s technology. Energy conversion is enhanced by the presence of electrically resistive hydrocarbons and permeability in reservoir rock. Such conversions have been studied in the laboratory and the field for decades. ES Xplore began as a start-up venture within Hunt Energy Enterprises, an affiliate of Hunt Consolidated.
Historical Timeline of the Application of Electroseismic Technology to Hydrocarbon Exploration
Layout Of Active Source Tests
Active Electromagnetic Source
Utilized Geophones to Detect Return Seismic Signal
1930’s: Early work on the application of seismic-to-electromagnetic coupling in the field
1978: Program initiated to exploit the coupling between seismic and electromagnetic energies (electroseismic) for hydrocarbon indication
1980-2000’s: Successful field testing of electromagnetic-to-seismic coupling
Field tests determine conclusively that electroseismic conversion can locate the presence of hydrocarbons through detection of response seismic waves
2009: Hunt Energy Enterprises initiates work on passive electroseismic technology
2010-2016: Detection of seismic returns utilizing passive-source electromagnetic energy and application of the technology to internal and client leads and prospects
Advances made in signal processing as well as sensor design
